About the course

This 3‑day intensive course provides a structured and clinically focused training pathway in Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE) for hemodynamic monitoring, combining essential theoretical foundations with high‑quality hands‑on training using simulators, virtual wet‑lab models, and bedside clinical application in perioperative and critical care settings.
Participants may also complete an optional one‑week Clinical Experiential Learning Module (with a documented logbook), offering supervised exposure to TEE practice in real clinical environments, including the operating room and the ICU. This module is designed to bridge the skills acquired during the course with real‑world clinical application, serving as a capstone experience that consolidates the overall training.
Scheduling of this supplementary module will depend on the availability of both the training center and the participant, and it must be completed within one year following the end of the course.
The faculty consists of anesthesiologists from the Cardiac Anesthesia Group at Hospital de Santa Cruz, ULSLO, all holding EACTA/EACVI Adult Transesophageal Echocardiography Certification, as well as an intensivist from Hospital CUF Tejo with the European Diploma of Advanced Echocardiography in Critical Care (EDEC).
